How do I access Library Databases from home?

If you want to use HeinOnline, LLMC Digital, LexisNexis, US Law Week or Westlaw you must contact the Law Library directly. Where can I find information about Campus Computing?

RUCS (Rutgers Computer Services) provides support for computing on campus. Each student pays a computing fee each semester that funds the services RUCS provides. These services include computer labs dedicated for student use, training workshops, email services, file storage space, and web hosting. Complete information on their services can be found on the website for the Newark branch of RUCS at http://rucs.newark.rutgers.edu/. How do I register for a Library Workshop

You can register for a libary workshop by sending an email to refdesk@kinoy.rutgers.edu. To find out about workshops that are currently being offered by the library staff consult our workshops page.

What computer labs can you use in the Law Library?

Students and staff may use the computer labs located in Rm. 105 (on the first floor), Rm. 361 or Rm. 387 (both on the third floor). However, please keep in mind that the computers in Rm. 105 are not attached to a printer. If you wish to print, you must use one of the computer labs on the third floor. There is also a computer designated for working on and printing resumes, located next to the Reference Desk.

How do I check my library record?

Go to the RU-Newark Law Library home page and select Law Library Catalog. Then, select View Your Patron Record and enter your barcode and library PIN.

How do I borrow materials from other Rutgers Libraries?

If an item is not available in the Law Library (search our catalog first), then you should check whether the item is available from the Rutgers University Libraries (RUL) system. You may borrow materials from RUL by either checking them out in person or by ordering them electronically using IRIS. Keep in mind that if the item you need is owned by the Dana Library, you may not request the item electronically but must instead go across the street to the Dana Library and check the item out in person.

To borrow materials from Rutgers you must "register your barcode." You may do this in person at the Dana Library or electronically by filling out the Request Form. There is about a 2 day waiting period if you fill out the form. If you go in person you will get borrowing privileges immediately. You will receive a PIN number when you register your barcode. You may change this PIN to anything you want on the IRIS webpage under "Self Services." You must have this PIN to renew materials borrowed from IRIS (also under Self Services), to check your RUL library record and for Remote Access to various Indexes and Databases that are available to you from RUL.

How do I request an InterLibrary Loan (ILL)?

After you have verified the material you would like is not owned by the Law Library (by searching our catalog) or the Rutgers University Libraries catalog (IRIS), then you may fill out the ILL Request Form located on the Law Library webpage. You should NOT use the ILL form available from IRIS.
